Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a hub of the textile industry of the country in the last one decade due to the industrial friendly policy of the state government. Minister for Commerce,Industry, Employment, Mineral Resources and Overseas Indians Rajendra Shukla addressing the 14th international and 72nd All-India Textile Conference held in Bhopal said that a special policy is being brought soon to encourage garment industry in the state.

Madhya Pradesh has more than 55 mills generating exports worth over USD 325 million per annum. Major textile clusters of the state are located at Indore, Jabalpur, Burhanpur and Chhindwara. These clusters together house more than 43,000 power-looms and 47,000 handlooms. Several anchor units such as Aditya Birla-Grasim, Trident, Mafatlal, Vardhman Group, Indo Rama Synthetics, S Kumars, Pratibha Syntex Ltd etc. are present in the state.

The Apparel Park is an integrated textile unit within the SEZ in Indore. The park spans 133.38 acres and has state-of-the-art Common Effluent Treatment Facilities (CETP). The SEZ is equipped with an efficient road system, water supply, drainage and effluent treatment, power supply and street lighting including back-up power. The garment complex also enjoys amenities such as a well- equipped training centre, design, research and testing centre, exhibition and conference centre, a business service centre, a warehouse, a health clinic and a crèche. The Ministry of Textile (Government of India) sanctioned Rs.140 mn to create world class infrastructure in this complex .

The Readymade Garments Complex is located in Pardesipura, Indore, spanning 16.27 hectares. The infrastructure facilities available in this complex include roads, water supply, drainage and effluent treatment, power supply and street lighting including back-up power, and shared amenities like centres for well-equipped training, design, research and testing, exhibition and conferences, business services, warehouse, health clinic/dispensary and crèche.

The  natural  resources  including  agro-based  products,forest  products  and  minerals,  the  state’s  policy incentives  and  its  central  location  have  attracted  major investments  in  the  agro-products,  consumer  goods,drugs  and  pharmaceuticals,  mines  and  minerals,manufacturing and textiles sectors.
The  State  Government  is  keen  to  develop  industrial infrastructure.  The  Madhya  Pradesh  State  Industrial Development  Corporation  Limited  (MPSIDC)  and  its subsidiary,  Madhya  Pradesh  Audyogik  Kendra  Vikas Nigam  Limited  (MPAKVN)  are  the  key  nodal  agencies for industrial development in the state.
